The Green Scheme is an organization designed to educate people of diverse cultural backgrounds about their role in the environmental movement. Our programs educate children, youth, and adults about how environmental issues such as, proximity to high rates of pollution; access to fresh produce and healthy food options; safe opportunities and spaces for physical activity; and how the cleanliness of communities where people live, work, and play can an affect their physical health, mental health, and economy. We use innovative strategies that reach people in direct and exciting ways; engaging community members at schools, community centers, special events, and places of employment to promote a greener planet. There we highlight different options that they have for living a sustainable lifestyle at home and in their community. Promoting ways to incorporate sustainability and healthy living, the programs we implement are very hands on while also incorporating multimedia aspects. Our main goal is to organize educate, advocate, and empower community members to action. We follow a community based approach which allows community members to identify issues that directly affect their lives. We strive to empower people to gain autonomy over their circumstances by presenting tools to community member that they can use to change and sustain improved quality of living outcomes. We also have programs that provide career development trainings for individuals who are interested in different green career pathways. The unique strategies and tactics used in our outreach activities and programs are what separate our organization from others. We recognize that new methods of execution and gaining community participation are the key to successful programs and must be delivered.
