Southwest Stories with Steve Brown has enjoyed two well received seasons on KVCR PBS TV, here in southern California. We've shot most of our third season, and this fundraiser is to cover shooting the remainder, editing and post production, to get our third season on the air this coming spring.
This season teams me, Steve Brown, with my good friend and Route 66 expert (more about that later), Jim Conkle, as we cover the stretch of America's Mother Road from Seligman, Arizona through the Mojave Desert to Victorville, California. Along the way, we meet with some of the icons of the road, visit Grand Canyon Caverns, Kingman, Oatman, Chloride (OK, so it's not right on Route 66, but it is FUN!), the Colorado River, Needles, Goffs, Amboy, Barstow, and Victorville. Special guests on the show include two-time NAMMY (Native American Music Awards) winner, Steve Rushingwind, in a performance nearly 300 feet below ground! Our thanks to Steve and his group for providing us with our theme song for Southwest Stories!
Your support is support for not only getting Season 3 of Southwest Stories on the air, but also supports the communities along Route 66. We've scheduled this campaign to run through February, 2017. On March 12, 2017, Jim and I will be the keynote speakers for the Friends of the Palm Springs Public Library annual fundraiser (we previously did two talks on Route 66 through the Mojave there to over-capacity crowds), where we will be airing some of the video shot for Season 3.
We are planning a three day/two night tour that will follow this route in spring, 2017, with your help, this will take place around the launch date for Season 3 on KVCR PBS TV.
If you have an interest in Route 66, the Mojave, and all the fascinating people and places along the way, please support this project at whatever level you can. We specifically chose this platform for funding because if we don't reach full funding, we won't proceed with the additional shoots and post production. Our obligation is to provide a third season of Southwest Stories to KVCR for their broadcast to 5.8 million households across southern California. Your pledge will not be charged if we do not reach the funding level to produce the series.
Thank you for your support. It is greatly appreciated.
