SATURDAY WARS is a unique anthology that brings the excitement of the epic crossover story to the wild world of webcomics!
"And when these insignificant lifeforms gaze upon me, they shall have no choice but to pray for a swift annihilation."
A powerful alien empire, the Sin Rostro, are waging a war to conquer not just their own universe but EVERY UNIVERSE THAT EVER WAS!
Our only hope lies within a cluster of unfancied worlds populated by heroes of great potential but minor recognition.
Can this diverse group of eclectic characters work together long enough (and more importantly, "well enough") to SAVE LIFE AS WE KNOW IT?
Some of the most hottest comics right now are NOT in your local comicbook store. And if they are--there is a good chance that they are being created by former (or current) webcomic talent.
The Regular Show comic is currently written by KC Green of the website, Gunshow while Brian Shearer of the excellent William the Last has worked on Transformers comics.
At MyFutprint.com, we LOVE WEBCOMICS!
It's our honest belief that the NEXT BIG THING (i.e. Avengers, Batman, TMNT, Pokemon, etc) will come from the online world. And while we know that some truly awesome humor or gag comics have broken through online (ala Axe Cop and/or Penny Arcade); action comics have had a tougher time. Part of the problem, we think, is that the traditional comics community is just not that familiar with webcomics. Whether it's the perception that online series are only comedies/ gag strips or that most online comics are just half-baked fan fiction of existing franchises, we wanted to challenge this perception.
That's why we launched our own original publishing imprints that focus EXCLUSIVELY on solid action (i.e.using the manga aesthetic) from a diverse line-up of amateur creators. Our first label, Saturday AM, is a bi-weekly digital shonen manga anthology. Every magazine features some of the world's hottest webcomic talent all in one place. We wanted to represent the best so we recruited artists from several popular webcomic sites and/or served as an outlet for new, highly coveted creators who had teased their efforts via social media for several years. With over 13 issues to date, the magazine has done well with a reasonable price point of $1.99 per issue for over 50 pages (some over 100) each. While we were pleasantly surprised at the support for our digital magazine (with hardly any marketing), we knew we wanted to also offer free webcomics on a daily basis and launched our second line, Afternoon Web-X, in Feb 2014.
So, what EXACTLY are we doing this KICKSTARTER for?
First, of all--we're comicbook fans. No, scratch that. WE ARE HARDCORE COMICBOOK GEEKS! Most our creators grew up with collections that contained runs of RUROUNI KENSHIN to the entire maxi-series, DC's CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS. Other, younger creators, may have invested in TPB's of Marvel events like CIVIL WAR.
We all WANTED to do physical comicbooks and when our fans starting asking WHEN were we going to produce one we decided to craft something unique. Most Kickstarters for webcomic creators are reprints of previously released digital work and we decided to craft an original story, made specifically for print that we hope could appeal to the mainstream comicbook fan.
And thus Saturday Wars was born.
