Designed and engineered in the Netherlands to last, the TiMe22 Robusto series aims to be the first grade 5 titanium automatic & battery powered watches funded on Kickstarter.
Made of the same material as jet engines and other aerospace components, titanium is 45% lighter than steel and anti-corrosive. Inside the 45mm case you’ll find a Swiss made ETA movement, water resistant down to 200 meters, featuring sapphire crystal and Swiss Super-Luminova® lumed dial and hands.
Creating something is fun. Especially if you get to design something that you are passionate about. We believe that design is an integral part of product development. Designers are included in the earliest phases of innovative processes and the production development cycle. We also believe that there is always a better way to solve a problem and that is why we never stop trying to make great ideas better. Lastly, we believe that people who use and love our watches deserve a lifetime guarantee.
Dutch engineers need little introduction. Countries and companies from all over the globe hire our engineers to solve complex engineering problems.
Dutch design is known to be simple and powerful and has gained international recognition particularly from the 1990s onwards. Combine these two specialties and you have the foundation for something wonderful: The TiMe22 Robusto.

TiMe22 Robusto Precision
The Robusto Precision features the Swiss made ETA Normflatline 955.112 Quartz movement with 7 jewels and battery End-of-Life display. This movement is popular and widely used (most Tag Heuer battery operated watches use this movement). It is also one of the most reliable quartz movements you can get on the market today.
TiMe22 Robusto Automatic
The Robusto Automatic features the Swiss made ETA Mecaline 2824-2 Self-winding movement with 25 Jewels, 28.800 vibrations per hour and ETACHRON regulator system. This movement is one of the best known and most widely used mechanical movements at all. It is considered to be accurate, robust and reliable and can be found in Tudors, Breitlings, Tag Heuers and many other brands.
Mocha or Royal Blue dial
You will have a chance to choose from the following two dial colours before we produce your watch. Please note that both options will be available on the Robusto Automatic as well as the Robusto Precision. In direct light/sunlight there is a sparkle in both colours.
Mocha: The Mocha features a Pantone 411PC painted bronze dial.
Royal Blue: The Royal Blue feautures a Pantone 281PC painted bronze dial.
All watches produced for this Kickstarter launch will be individually numbered with a commemorative serial string. The serial strings consist of a character string and a numbered sequence. For the Kickstarter batch these will be KICK001 till KICKxxx. First backed, first served, meaning the earlier you back us, the lower the sequence number you will get. Please note that your backer number does not indicate the number you will receive because some backers before you may have purchased multiple watches.
Upgrade to a personalized serial string: Would you like a personalized serial string instead of KICKxxx? We can do just that! Please add €100 per watch to your pledge and let us know which FOUR (4) character string you would like in your serial string.
Example: We - Stefan and Marc - have already chosen our strings: STFNxxx and MARCxxx.
Swiss made movements: The heart and soul of a watch lies in its movement. There is only one country in the world where they truly understand watch movements: Switzerland. And that is why we have decided to engineer and design our watches around the high quality Swiss movements from ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse. ETA has occupied a unique position in the watchmaking industry since 1793. They can draw inspiration from an unparalleled technical, industrial and human heritage. The ETA movements we have selected are commonly used in watches from luxury brands such as Tag Heuer, Omega, Hublot, Baume & Mercier and Panerai.
All our watches are fitted with sapphire crystal. This is cut from a polished slice of solid sapphire that has been created by the fusion and crystallization of alumina. On the hardness scale, the only material tougher than sapphire is diamond. What this means is that sapphire crystal is immensely scratch resistant in a way that no other comparable material is — both in terms of “flaw initiation” (i.e. when it starts to scratch) and toughness (when it cracks).
The indexes and hands are topped off with strong luminescence, Super-Luminova® BGW9, which gives you great visibility at night and even in the shade.
Super-Luminova®, produced by the Swiss company Tritec provides increased luminosity – up to 10 hours. This Swiss made lume is some of the brightest available and is by far the most widely used luminous material by almost all of the high-end and luxury brands.
There are multiple grades of Super-Luminova®. The brightest grade is C3 with BGW9 following in a close second. This method of luminescence does not have a limited life span because the process of activation and luminescence takes place without a chemical reaction.
We are travelers, engineers and watch & cigar aficionados. We love the touch and feel of high tech materials and the typical minimalist, experimental, innovative, quirky, and humorous Dutch design. Born and raised in The Netherlands, a country where technology keeps our feet dry (literally), we value technological innovation and creative solutions. After several years of dreaming, imagining and planning we started this small Dutch brand to design high quality Titanium wristwatches.
We were looking for a high quality timepiece that would withstand, not only, the test of time but also the burden of daily wear and tear. A timepiece that is engineered to the highest specifications, build with the best materials and designed to be robust yet elegant. We didn’t find what we were looking for, and what we found we couldn’t afford… Designing and engineering our own watch was the only way to follow and so the TiMe22 story started.
This is a story where we invite you* to become part of: together we can turn the world of high quality watches upside down! Our reach only reaches our direct network. Liking TiMe22 on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, or inviting friends and family via email will make a huge difference and help our project gain the momentum we need.
Quality, design with an eye for detail and the selection of the toughest material grade 5 Titanium and top-of-the line Swiss movements set us apart.
TiMe22 is based in Deventer, The Netherlands

We're a professional team of 2 experienced engineers and watch designers from The Netherlands, friends for over 30 years. Both of us work on the design of our watches and we love what we do!
Stefan Wessels (Co-founder)
Born (1970) in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. I spend up until my teen years in Hengelo where I went to kindergarten, elementary and secondary school. My parents and I moved to ‘s-Hertogenbosch where I completed my technical education in electronics. After obtaining my degree I did a fair share of traveling around the world as a field service engineer in the High-tech industry (mainly Semiconductors). I also lived abroad in Israel for four years where I worked for a semiconductor company and even now I’m still active in the Solar and Semiconductor industry as service manager at Tempress systems. In 2012 I got married (yes on 12-12-12!) to my wife Josephine and we have a lovely daughter named Elise. For the little spare time I have left I like to spend this on the golf-course and/or smoke cigars with my good friends. My favorite cigars are the Padron 1964 Aniversario Exclusivo Maduro and COHIBA Piramides Extra. In 2015 my friend Marc and I started talking about our own unique watch design with unprecedented specifications and now we are ready to bring it to market together with you.
Born (1970) in Hengelo, The Netherlands. After finishing my military service and obtaining my degree in Telematics Engineering I co-founded several successful companies in the Online technology and Online services industry. So far I have lived and worked in 10 (or maybe 11 – I lost count) countries and travelled to many more. I have several years hands-on experience in the watches industry from the setup and management of the online distribution for a Swiss watch company. The little time I am not working I like to play a game of tennis, go for a ride on my mountain bike or spend some time on the water windsurfing. And I like food, especially the Peruvian cuisine! My favourite cigar is a Cuban Montecristo No. 2 and when I am not wearing a TiMe22 watch I wear vintage Tag Heuer from the ’90s. Stefan and I have talked for years about starting a company together, several plans (some good, some not that bright) were cooked up and now our shared passion for timepieces (and cigars) inspired to TiMe22.
Titanium, as strong as steel but 45 percent lighter. It has a relative high melting point (more than 1,650 ·C or 3,000 ·F). Starting in the early 1950s, titanium began to be used extensively for military aviation purposes, particularly in high-performance jets, starting with aircraft such as the F100 Super Sabre and Lockheed A-12 and SR-71 (and Robocop was made of Titanium!). Nowadays the metal is generally too expensive to make it marketable to the general consumer market, other than high-end products, particularly for the racing/performance market. Because of its durability, light weight, dent- and corrosion resistance titanium has become more popular for the production of watch cases. Its inertness makes it a good choice for those with allergies or those who will be wearing the watch in environments such as swimming pools.
The titanium alloy used for TiMe22 bracelets and cases is one of the strongest alloys available. Grade 5 titanium, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, is obtained by a smelting process where pure titanium is alloyed with small amounts of aluminium and vanadium. The result is a metal that is significantly stronger than pure titanium or even stainless steel. Grade 5 titanium is anti-magnetic, hypoallergenic and particularly resistant to corrosion by acids found in the sea and in perspiration.
Quality control is carried out at every step during the watch assembly process. Each watchmaker is expected to verify the work of the previous watchmaker handling the piece and verify whether it conforms to TiMe22's strict quality standards. Should a problem arise at any point in the assembly line, the watch is sent back to the start of the production line to be disassembled, and the process starts all over again.
As an international customer, we’d like to make sure that you are aware that prices billed for goods shipped outside the European Union do not include any taxes, duties, VAT or other charges due to the recipient’s local or national government authority. These other charges, duties and taxes (including VAT) are the sole responsibility of the recipient and must be paid upon arrival in the destination country. Usually these fees are demanded prior to delivery and are collected by the shipping courier or local customs authority. For more details please contact your local customs office. You may also use a Duty Calculator to calculate what you may be charged by your local government.
We stand firmly behind our products and are committed to fanatical service. Each TiMe22 watch comes with a limited lifetime warranty of flaws in workmanship and materials.
Buying fake and/or stolen watches (Online) is a serious and hard to eradicate problem. Often fake copies of a product are hard to distinguish from the original and are being sold as authentic. We have come up with the concept of the Authenticity Key.
Each TiMe22 watch has a unique QR-code laser-etched on their case back. We call this QR-code the Authenticity Key. We generate a unique Authenticity key for every Serial string using our private (well guarded) RSA* key.
*RSA: Cryptographic communications system and method (U.S. Patent 4,405,829).
The Authenticity Key, together with the Serial string allows the (prospected) owner of a TiMe22 watch to :
a) confirm that their watch is authentic (as opposed to a fake copy);
b) track the ownership and status of their watch.
How to confirm that your TiMe22 watch is authentic?
1) Scan your QR-code with your mobile phone to obtain the Authenticity key. The result is a text string (an RSA encrypted verification key).
2) Visit the TiMe22 Online register and enter the Authenticity key and your Serial string into the form.
3) Our server will now use our public RSA key to confirm that the Authenticity key and Serial string are a matching pair. Also we confirm that this pair has not been cloned. If both these tests are passed, the watch is authentic.
How to track ownership and status of your watch?
1) Confirm that your watch is authentic (see above);
2a) If your watch has never been registered, you can register your ownership now; You will receive your personal Owner key.
2b) If your watch has been registered you can now check it's status: registered, stolen, service needed, etc. and with your Owner key you can report the watch stolen, request warranty, or transfer ownership.
We've been working on this Kickstarter project for the past year. It hasn't been easy, and we're proud to say, we're finally here!
