Rhythm in Motion is a twenty part series of 3 to 5 minute slice-of-life video portraits centered around the extraordinary subway musicians of New York City. The series is affiliated with MTA Arts for Transit and Urban Design and Music Under New York.
Some of the subjects already filmed are: a traditional Korean drummer, a musical saw player, a beatboxer, and all-female Mariachi band.
By depicting their character alongside their musical talent, each film reveals a more intricate portrayal of the subway musicians that we see everyday. In doing so, the films break preconceived notions of what drives them to play underground.
