About

Our new watch, our first dress watch ever is designed in a classic, minimalist style with a mechanical movement that will last forever.

After successfully running four other watch Kickstarter projects, and by having produced and shipped thousands of watches to satisfied backers and watch lovers around the globe, we have gained a tremendous amount of experience, skills and knowledge in creating high-end watches at accessible prices.

Breaking News

At Ferro & Company, we know just what a watch means to the person who wears it. A watch does so much more than just tell time: it becomes a piece of whoever owns it, communicating to the world who they are and what they stand for, complementing their ensembles and making a statement. We get it, which is why we have committed ourselves at Ferro & Company to producing watches that you can be proud to wear. We recently shifted our assembly line from Asia to Switzerland, and we are collaborating with the world’s top assembly organizations to guarantee the highest level of quality in everything that we offer. Perfectionists to the core, we believe in the value of innovation.

We are Swiss Made

Many watch companies emphasise “Swiss Movement” instead of "Swiss Made" which does not mean that their watches are made in Switzerland!

Ferro Traditum Watches are "Swiss Made"; meaning that our movements are made in Switzerland, and the watches have been hand assembled and quality controlled in Switzerland by a Swiss manufacturer.

Design Inspiration

Traditum “Tradition” represents a portrait of historical watches and movements through infusion of traditional design with sophisticated innovation and style. We, at Ferro & Company wanted to create a classic watch collection that not only will keep you accurate time, but also be the legacy to future descendants. A watch that will last for generations to come.

The Movement

Traditum Watches are offered with 2 grades of movements:

Standard Grade Movement (Reward of  US$609)

TOP Grade Movement (Reward of $919)

TOP Grade Movement with blue screws. Sweet...

ETA (Unitas) Cal. 6498 family is a large movement, measuring 16.5 ligne (36.6 mm) in diameter and 4.5 mm thick thanks to a compact manual winding design. Modern 6498's are fully jewelled (17 jewels) and operate at 18,000 A/h (Standard Grade) and at 21,600 A/h (Top Grade). Power reserve are approximately up to 46 hours for Standard Grade and up to 56 hours for Top Grade movements (please note that these are approximates).

The ETA 6498 movements are being used by expensive and luxury Swiss watch brands that sell from $3000 to $10,000

Standard Grade VS Top Grade

The Shocks used in each grade

To sum up, both movements are excellent. Top Grade movements cost substantially more than Standard Grade due to being higher quality, more accuracy, better shock absorbing and balance wheel system, and have finer internal gears (smaller teeth which causes smoother operation and longer lasting), and more scarce to find on the market which adds more value to the watch.

Why Mechanical Movement ?

Even though the self-winding movement has largely prevailed over hand wound movements, the heart of many watch-lovers is still beating for the original version with a winding crown. For the watch lover, for whom watches are more than an object of utility for measuring time, the process of winding or setting a watch in motion, however, is a veritable ritual: it brings to mind the intricate technology hidden inside the watch. Therefore this achieves an intimacy to their favorite everyday companion that many watch lovers do not want to miss. with hand-wound watches the rotor does not obstruct the view of the mechanical heart, so that watch lovers have full view of the gear train moving tooth-by-tooth.

The Dials

Traditum dials are made with precision. The applied indexes and embossed patterns in the centre of the dial add a great dept to the look and feel of the watch and make time reading easier.

Traditum dials come in 2 styles:

The Arabica series dial which has a more simple and modern design with Arabic numbers at 12, 3 and 9 O'clock

And the Roman Series dials which come with Applied Roman Numerals that make the watch look more historic and authentic.

 Sapphire Crystal

Sapphire is the most expensive glass crystal material and the most scratch resistant. It is a very hard, transparent material made of crystallising aluminium oxide at very high temperatures.
