From the creators of Fun Town, the dark comedy Lawrence of Suburbia tells the story of Lawrence, a slacker who discovers he is God’s prophet. Lawrence, assisted by his friend Sebastian and the angel Metatron, must prevent a right-wing church from prematurely triggering the Rapture. Lawrence has dropped out of college and moved into his parents’ garage, where he spends most of his time playing videogames. One day, he discovers his true identity as the prophet of God after smoking a bong filled with holy water. Metatron appears at that moment to explain that Lawrence can fulfill his destiny—bringing down the right-wing church —by going on a series of missions that will build Lawrence’s “Gift of Gab.”
Mikey Dee Films will be shooting Lawrence of Suburbia at Devil Cat Studios, which has three sound stages, in-house audio and post labs, as well as essential equipment. We are looking for funding for the pilot episode. Funding will go toward hiring a cast and crew, securing locations, and acquiring props and wardrobe. Although we are seeking financial backing through corporate sponsorships, acquiring a base budget through crowd funding would give us solid star.
