If your Looking for a no-compromises printer for your desktop or office, look no further. The L2S has been designed from the ground up to be reliable but still retain a wide feature set. The printer features our patent pending vat system that produces an excellent surfact finish and perfectly flat layers.

We were tired of printers breaking down, usually it was some inherent problem with the device or its printing method so we started to develop the L2S. We print a lot so we wanted something that could handle a heavy work load and still be ready to click print the next day.

We went through lots of iterations and pitted many designs against one another. After a few iterations it became clear that a top down orientation is more reliable and safer. We then focused on top down orientation designs which comes with its own set of issues. 

In an open top vat the device would need to be precisely level in order for the surface of the resin to sit parallel to the light source and as the print bed lowers into the resin it will increase the surface height so you would need an overflow chamber and perhaps a wiper mechanism. When printing layers that are a fraction of a milimeter these changes have a big effect. Further still, most resins have a relatively high viscosity and exhibit high surface tension so it takes a long time for the resin surface to flatten out, increasing the print duration.

The Solution?

The gull wing vat. All the top down advantages with none of the drawbacks. This stainless steel vat system places the window in the centre of the vat, partially submerged. By partially submerging the window the issues with the resin being level and its viscosity are no longer there because you are now printing in the centre of a band of resin. By allowing the excess volume created by the bed lowering to raise around the window there is no need for an overflow chamber or additional mechanisms to level the surface.


The rigid frame also means the flexible inner window can be easily replaced without pouring PDMS or replacing the entire vat which lowers downtime and the cost of maintenance.
