Jeanne & Modigliani is a 144 page graphic novel written by Nadine Van Der Straeten, translated by Renou Aaron Benteau, and originally published in French by the publisher Tartamudo. This is the second Kickstarter Campaign run by Black Panel Press, following up on the success of Ancient Astronauts in October.
Our story is set in Paris in the early 1900's, during the era of revolutionary artists like Picasso, Renoir, and of course, Amedeo Modigliani. Many know the singular artist that was Modigliani, whose work has become universally recognized. Some have heard about Jeanne Hébuterne, his last companion…
Jeanne; she who quietly slipped through her 19 years in the background of the scene, as if to apologize for being there. This is her story…
Nadine Van der Straeten has been drawing for twenty years. Although her heart swings between illustration and comics, she loves to tell stories with the tip of her pencil. Since her studies in Strasbourg under the leadership of Claude Lapointe, she has worked closely with many magazines and publishers for youth. Nadine Van der Straeten currently lives in the Paris region.
Jeanne & Modigliani is Nadine's first adult graphic novel, entirely written and illustrated by her.
Your pledge will help us to print 500 copies of Jeanne & Modigliani. Our plan is to start with a minimum run of 500 copies. Depending on the success of the Kickstarter campaign, we hope to increase that number quite a lot. The majority of your pledge will be used to print a high quality hardcover of the book. The rest will be used to ship and market the book on other channels.
