'A survival television show, shooting on an isolated Island in the South China Sea, becomes all too real when a malignant spirit hell-bent on consuming them all is unwittingly released. '
Female contestants of a reality survival television show dig up an ancient burial site in the hopes that it is a cover for a game clue. They discover, what appear to be, human bones, a rusty Super 8mm film camera, and a hideous ancient Chinese ceremonial mask.
They wake the next morning to discover that the crew is missing, the production village is trashed, and only they and the other three male contestants remain in the jungle.
The contestants are stalked by the vengeful spirit of a Chinese girl dressed in a flowing white dress, Nu Gui, and rotting corpse of the infant child, Ying Ling, she carries with her. The sounds of the infant’s cries foreshadow violent death as one by one the remaining contestants are hunted down and slaughtered.
The final contestant discovers the Islands shocking secrets, but is it too late? Have they only delayed their own explosive ending?
This Kickstarter is to help raise the funds necessary to pay for the remaining artwork, printing and shipping costs, and cover the cost of the incentives. Regular progress updates will be provided to backers of the project to ensure that production can be tracked and monitored at all times. The team is on hand, both on Kickstarter and social media to provide information and updates in addition to answering any questions you may have.

THE CREATIVE TEAM
Barry Duffield was a young boy growing up in Australia when he fell in love with all things cinematic. It led him to a successful career as an actor, as well as a screenwriter, and now he’s also the author of his second graphic novel.
A passion for all things horror and an overwhelming desire to bring something fresh to the genre led to the writing of the ‘Hellion Rising’ screenplay with Michael Hurst. The need to have the story reach the reading audience led to the creation of the graphic novel.
Michael Hurst is an actor and director, known for Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995), Bitch Slap (2009) and Hercules and Xena - The Animated Movie: The Battle for Mount Olympus (1998) to name just a few of his credits. Although this is Michael's first foray into the graphic novel industry as a co-creator and writer behind Hellion Rising this will not be his last with other screenplays his written screaming for a garphic novel adapation.
Alex Malyshev has been a freelance artist for the last 6 years working with pencils, inks colours and digital media. He has done work for a lot of independent publishers including Champion Comics, been a cover artist for the independent series 5 Star and Angelica Regins and is currently working on a Sci-fi series called Metamora. As a young artist Alex has great potential within the comic industry and we can't wait to show you what he has been working on for us.
Wilson Go has jumped on the book to do colours for this graphic novel as we have used him on our XCT series and know he does a fantastic job in making all the characters jump right off the page and hit you in the face.
Przemyslaw R. Dedelis will be providing the amazing letters for the project and has worked on several independent graphic novels both as an artist and letterer.
Risks and challenges
The delivery date for almost all rewards will be in July of 2018. After the campaign is over, I'll be keeping everyone up to date on the progress of the work, printing schedules for the book and all the rewards as we go along. We have done an extra long delivery date in the hope that we can get it to you all sooner.
With the pencils well under way, all we need to do is get them coloured and lettered. The turnaround on printing for the books is about 3-4 weeks and will be done as soon as it's all ready to go, once received packing and shipping all those cool rewards will take about 2-4 weeks to action.
You know how nothing in life EVER goes perfectly smooth, right? Well, just to give you all a heads up, if there are shipment schedule issues or challenges with the printers, or those pesky day-to-day challenges, I know how to stick it out, get the work done, make it look great and meet those deadlines! I have done it before and will do it again!!
I believe that transparency is key in a venture like this, so again, I'll be keeping everyone informed as we make our way through this fun project. Thanks for all your support.
