Garden of Silver Grows

Garden of Silver handmade jewelry grows with the help of teens and young adults.

I started Garden of Silver, my jewelry design company, five years ago and have enjoyed growing from doing home jewelry parties in my friends kitchens to being a top designer for UncommonGoods and having my jewelry and in fine boutiques, galleries and museums across the country including The Smithsonian.

As a NYS Certified art teacher for the last 25 years, I have been privileged to work with some amazingly talented teenagers. I am dedicated to showing my creative teens how to actually make a living through their art and creativity. I feel that is extremely important for young creatives to learn the business side of the art world. I try to incorporate entrepreneurial skills into each of my high school class curriculums. Young creatives need to learn the skills required to market themselves and their art professionally to the public and, most importantly, to become creative entrepreneurs which is extremely important in this economic environment. I love tapping into the energy and talents of these young people and they always end up amazing me as we build upon great ideas together.

Kickstarter pledges will allow the expansion of Garden of Silver, while introducing  young adults to the pre show preparation and real time business transactions in the international market place at the 2014 NY Now Gift Fair in New York City.

By working behind the scenes at Garden of Silver, these teens and young adults will learn jewelry production techniques, marketing and advertising strategies, preparation of professional promotional materials, digital photography skills, product photography, Photoshop/computer graphics skills, blog writing, social media tactics, customer service, trade show booth design, jewelry display and presentation, working at a trade show, dealing with buyers, taking wholesale orders, etc. They will learn everything that goes into working at a creative business. Trade shows require a tremendous amount of energy to prepare for, as well as to participate in, and I will take these young adults through the entire process.

This immersion in the market exchange at the NY Now Gift Fair will provide an invaluable opportunity for me to further teach, mentor and help to launch the next generation of creative entrepreneurs with real world experiences and prepare these young adults for one of the many careers in creative based business fields.

The way Kickstarter works is that we have to reach our goal of $5000 in 30 days or, unfortunately, the project does not get funded. Once our project is funded we will be able to put young adults to work learning first hand what it takes to run a successful creative business which will then enable them to become better leaders, thinkers and to build upon their own boundless potential into new domains.

Please help spread the word to help us reach our dreams. Like our Facebook page and share our story with your friends and family. Thank you so much for playing an integral role in helping to launch Garden of Silver to the next level and inspire young adults towards a creative future.
