Empty Desk Solutions Building Careers & Community

Summary

Aspiring young female entrepreneur seeking a way to pay it forward to OTHER female entrepreneurial minded individuals and young mothers.

Becoming a mother at 21 and again at 24, I quickly understood that there wasn't many options for a single working mother where she could balance a family life and a career. Living in the lower mainland of BC, I also quickly learned that living in one of the most expensive places in the world contributes to a high level of stress when work is hard to come by (or at least decent jobs are anyways), and the cost of living is rising exponentially in comparison to what a single mother can earn with limited education.

Customer service has always been an extremely strong quality of mine, and after many years of working hard at a local salon, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to manage a marketing team at Canada's largest mortgage company. I was hired on a three month probationary period which was quickly waived and a new employment contract ensued. It was here that I was (and continue to be) mentored in both my personal and professional life.

In recent years, I have started to feel the need to repay this opportunity to other women like me that may have left toxic relationships in order to pick up the pieces of their lives, provide for their children, and embark on a new and rewarding career path.

In the past month, I have started up my own company called 'Empty Desk Solutions' (www.emptydesk.ca) which provides expertly managed social media campaigns for small-business and large business owners alike. A la carte graphic design and writing services are being added due to the volume of requests.

It is my goal to attain 10 loyal clients that I can balance in addition to my full-time job in order to have extra income to put back into the community and hire a part-time staff (young mother) and give them the opportunity to make extra income while being able to spend precious time with family. It is also my goal to be able to donate at minimum 10% of my profits to a local non-profit that I have the privilege of serving on the board for - the I AM SOMEONE Ending Bullying Society.

What I Need & What You Get

My immediate business needs:

  • Initial capital for marketing materials to get my first 10 clients in the door
  • Business consulting in order to generate buzz for my company and attract that one quality special person to help this grow!
  • What do you get? The satisfaction in knowing you've helped a start-up company get off the ground (heck if you have your own company I will manage your social media for a month if you support...), and the comfort in knowing one more person was able to pay it forward :)

Other Ways You Can Help

If you can't contribute financially, perhaps you can help spread the word!

  • Bloggers galore?
  • Share my campaign and help me pay it forward!

Thank you!
