Backpack - 100% repurposed & post consumer goods

When designing backpack I wanted to use everyday materials and make something unique. Something that is familiar but totally new. It had to be so simple, bringing the backpack to its most rudimentary form that there could be no question to its purpose.

The bags semi hard shell lays itself to look like a stone you might find in a river or stream. It's constructed from used milk jugs and other HDPE bottles and containers. It only has one main pocket accessible from the top that is injection molded to not only hold the lid open, but keep the bag closed using a specially designed latch that uses parts of a car seatbelt buckle. The straps utilize a single car seatbelt and come in several lengths to suit you. The shell won't change shape like many cloth bags. This isn't only bad for you, but causes the cloth to lose structure and deteriorate causing weak spots. The strap is threaded through 4 holes on the back of the bag and create a loop, this loop helps form fit the shell to your back and facilitates moving with you. The straps connect to a multi sleeve that is designed to hold a 15" laptop, a large tablet magazine newspaper or book, as well as a normal sized tablet sleeve. The multi sleeves interior is lined with neoprene reclaimed from discarded wetsuits. This provides padding and shock resistance, and also helps keep the items from moving around in the sleeves. The outer part of the sleeve and pockets are sewn from deployed airbags that are highly abrasion resistant, fire retardant, and virtually tear proof. There is a double layer of repurposed neoprene on the bottom, this, with the sleeve being sewn directly to the strap loop, unite to add extra drop protection, and shock resistance, as well as keeping the weight of the sleeve close to your body when being worn making it feel more natural. This bag started from several materials that served different purposes in their lives but come together to make something totally new, unlike any other bag you've seen. Made from completely repurposed, 100% post consumer goods, made by hand with passion and designed to make as much of a statement as a difference.

This is backpack.
