Azimuth Solar Products Inc. is based in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia. The founders, Matthew Longman and Shari McDowell, have spent the last several years developing robust and versatile mobile solar generator systems that provide high-output power for a variety of uses. With a single day of sunshine, Azimuth's portable solar generator systems can power appliances, entertainment, communication and medical equipment, and construction tools. Most portable solar generators may only charge a few cellphones or laptop computer, and can take several days to charge a battery pack. We have multiple patents pending in the USA for our unique Sun Track Solar Alignment Sight and 2-axis solar panel frame system.
These portable and dependable solar power generator systems have unique, compact folding designs suitable for disaster recovery, off-grid living, tactical expeditions, and adventuring. Our systems use high-quality solar panels with a specially designed high capacity tripod and frame support for unrivaled high-output mobile solar power. Our rugged systems use the most innovative components to function in extreme conditions from arctic, desert, to downpour. There are some comparable solar generators used by the US Forces, but our systems are a fraction of the cost, lower weight, and quicker set-up. Our M400 system has been developed in collaboration with SBM Solar, a primary supplier of ballistic-rated solar panels to the US Marines. Read SMB Solar's Press Release here.
We have secured a retail and assembly location and have production ready to start with local CNC manufacturers. We have been working with engineers and manufacturers to ensure the best quality control possible. We’ve put in the time and money for prototypes and testing – now we’re ready to start manufacturing! We need to raise $120,000 to start building our first round of orders.
Most portable solar is designed for charging small devices or topping off partially-discharged batteries. Our systems will recharge large, deep-cycle battery packs in less than a day and can be expanded for additional power. The 2-axis, 360 full rotation frame can easily tilt and rotate to follow the sun for maximum input – up to 40% more power than a fixed solar panel. Our exceptional efficiency and flexibility makes our systems suitable for micro-grid systems in cabins, micro or tiny homes, RVs, mobile work sites, boats, and off-grid homes. They can power appliances and work as a back-up generator.
Plug & Play
Our compact design features on-board electronics which neatly nestles the combiner box and charge controller directly behind the panels. An output panel includes a 12V lighter and SAE socket so appliances, devices, and battery-packs can be plugged-in directly. Our RV connector cable can be connected through the 7-way socket on RVs and trailers to recharge their batteries without hassle. The charge controller can also be remotely mounted indoors for use with a battery bank for an off-grid home.
Azimuth mobile solar generates are super portable as all the support components are designed for easy assembly and transport. They assemble and disassemble in less than five minutes without tools and the tripod, pillar, and 2-axis frame fold for convenient transport. The highly portable designs allow Azimuth systems to be put into a trunk of a car and set up in any location no matter how remote or hard to reach. The tripod bases can hold over 3,000 lbs, so it can withstand high wind forces without damage, and take the abuse of rough transport.
Safe & Sustainable
Solar is a responsible alternative to gasoline generators: no fuel transportation or storage hassles, no fumes, no carbon monoxide poisoning, no fire hazard, and no noise issues with neighbours, RV parks, or wildlife. Solar is environmentally sustainable and can still produce power on cloudy days. During disasters, our systems can keep you in power without pumps or fuel.
Azimuth’s solar power generators are constructed of powder-coated and anodized stainless steel and 6105-T5 aluminum. The tripod is designed for an over 3000 lb load and can be set up or anchored on uneven ground. Azimuth systems can operate in temperatures from -40C to +85C and our waterproof 30A charge controller can survive in 100% humidity. This means our systems will keep on generating, rain or shine. They can withstand hail and winds over 60mph, and they are designed to exceed Mil-Spec 810G standards.
Azimuth’s solar generators make excellent back up power systems for communications and disaster response. Our system can power communication and medical devices for emergency situations or keep your home and appliances working when power goes out. They are ideal for residents in areas prone to earthquakes, hurricanes, or tornadoes. Simply store the system inside or in their hard cases to protect them from damage when conditions are dangerous and then complete a quick five minute setup for use when the power grid is down. Without electricity, gas station fuel pumps won't operate, and in a disaster, fuel supplies can run out within days. Refrigeration and freezers can be maintained to preserve food and vital medications, such as insulin.
Scalable & Flexible
All of our components and system parts are offered separately to upgrade your pre-existing systems and components. Any solar panels can be adapted to mount onto the 2-axis support frame, giving 2-axis sun exposure, and increasing your power output 40%. Get the entire support frame and tripod separately or with additional electronics for use with any solar power generator to lift your panels off the ground. Daisy-chain our systems with compatible solar panels to increase power or mount them onto a roof for a powerful and affordable off-grid system. The ASP Stationary Post Mount Pillar lets you use a stationary post, up to 4" diameter, to mount the 2-axis frame for a semi-permanent location for seasonal use or in hurricane prone areas. This also lets you use larger solar panels than normally used in the portable systems; for example three or four large 300W panels for a semi-permanent 1200W solar array.
Track the Sun: Alignment Sight
Our Sun Track Alignment Sight allows you to accurately position your panels for their highest power output. This simple and effective device can boost output over 40% from naked-eye positioning and allow you to predict the best alignment for tracking the sun. The sight projects a red dot onto a crosshair display which shows the sun’s position over a five hour period.
Simply line up the crosshairs to ensure full solar power production. Or position your panels for the best exposure over a five hour period without repositioning.
This simple and effective device fills a gap on the market for portable and DIY solar. Skip calculating seasons and angles with this intuitive alignment sight. Patent pending in the USA.
Our solar generator systems offer unparalleled power output for each dollar. No other portable system in their price range offers the same power rating or includes as many essential components as the ASP Portable Solar Generators. We’re taking advantage of the falling price of solar to offer high-range portable systems for prices that compete with systems with less than a third of their capacity.
