Alien Cartoon
Alien Cartoon

An iconic designer of the new artistic scene in Senegal, Selly Raby

Kane will be presenting her new collection “Alien Cartoon” in

Dakar’s ancient and abandoned train station.

Who is Selly Raby Kane?

In a land of conformity, she wears fluoro hair extensions as

necklaces and mixes pagne with denim, jersey or plastic. Always

chic, always glam, always cool, but never taking herself too

seriously, only she knows how to flirt with the “bizarre” with so

much class.

With Alien Cartoon the designer, throwing herself into a futurist

Africa, one overrun by fantastic and naïve creatures, asks herself a

multitude of questions on the façade of this parallel city, the style of

its inhabitants and the modes of transport that would exist in it.

Save the Old Lady

Not merely an artistic manifestation which combines performances,

installations, music and a fashion show, Alien Cartoon will also be

the climax of an entire movement; the campaign to Save the Old

Lady, launched by artist collective Les Petites Pierres, which aims to

save and rehabilitate the deserted space of the Dakar train station.
