Above the Fold was set up to build a platform for the creative community in Ireland.
Above the Fold Creative Conference launched in May 2016 organised on nothing except passion, drive and a shoestring budget. We hosted pop-up events in Dublin and Galway, all of which have been free to attend. We persevered with minimum financial assistance, with the intention of celebrating creativity in Ireland. But the time has come to reach out for your support.
Our vision is to host a nationally renowned conference in the West of Ireland, designed to educate, support and celebrate emerging and established creatives in Ireland. With the help of our audience and guests, we can continue to programme Above the Fold events, which will integrate and support the creative community throughout Ireland.
Above the Fold returns to the Mick Lally Theatre on Saturday May 6th, inviting nine of Ireland's brightest creatives to participate in a day of inspiring talks leading into the night.
Above the Fold 2017 Speakers:
Jo Anne and Gearóid's studio is based in Westport, Co. Mayo, where inspiration is drawn directly from the surrounding landscape. They describe their design approach as 'materials-led', designing products around functionality and the best qualities of the selected material.
Jette is a food stylist and creative entrepreneur, who recently launched The Collective Europe - Europe's first tech-free conference for innovators, creatives and entrepreneurs.
Jette also runs Created + Found, a beautiful homeware range stocking ceramics, linen, sundries and natural wood utensils.
Alan Bennett is the Managing Editor and Founder of HeadStuff Media, a cultural website, podcast network and events organisation. He studied fine art painting in Limerick School of Art and Design (BA), then received an MA in creative writing from UCD.
Anna Cosgrave launched the Repeal Project, an initiative that seeks to vindicate the rights of Irish women by reflecting, respecting and representing the need and want for free safe and legal access to abortion in Ireland. Making it seen that this issue needs to be heard.
With five more speakers to be announced.
This year, we have invited Lumo DJs to join us for the Above the Fold by Night after-party at Electric Garden Nightclub & Theatre, Galway.

What's in store for the future of Above the Fold?
Above the Fold is a creative events project, designed to present, discuss and engage the creative community in Ireland. Our roots are firmly fixed in Galway City, with an annual conference that celebrates the best of creativity in Ireland.
But we are spreading our wings throughout Ireland, with events forecast for Dublin, Limerick, Cork and Belfast. We can only proceed with programming with the help of our wonderful donators. So please, give as little or as much as you can so that you can help to make Above the Fold 2017 a reality.
Above the Fold on Galway Culture Night 2016:
