The Kickstarter campaign has launched! Check it out and contribute here!
Frontwing's new visual novel series Grisaia: Phantom Trigger begins with the release of the first two volumes on April 28, 2017. We want to make the full Phantom Trigger experience available for English-speaking fans around the world, and we're relying on your help to be able to do so!
The purpose of this Prefundia page is to show you our plans for the Phantom Trigger Kickstarter campaign, and to gather feedback directly from our fans. We want to make the best campaign we possibly can, so please share your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page, or on our Facebook or Twitter pages!
Grisaia: Phantom Trigger is a new ongoing series, continuing the story which began in the acclaimed and beloved Grisaia trilogy. The Grisaia franchise has sold over 300,000 units worldwide in both Japanese and English, and the original trilogy received an extremely popular anime adaptation in 2014 and 2015.
The first two volumes of Phantom Trigger are being released worldwide on Steam, in both English and Japanese, on April 28, 2017. A physical release is also planned for Japan, and we would like to make the full range of Phantom Trigger goods and promotional items available to fans of the series around the world, localized into English where applicable - but we need the help of those fans via Kickstarter to make that goal feasible.
There are two main goals we hope to accomplish with the Phantom Trigger Kickstarter campaign: first, to make an exclusive English physical (DVD-ROM) edition of the game available, including supplemental items such as an artbook, theme song EP CD, and more. If the goal is reached, we'll be able to produce these items, and they will be exclusive to the Kickstarter campaign. The second purpose of the campaign is to fund a translation of the Phantom Trigger manga adaptation, currently only planned for release in Japan. A digital copy of the localized manga will be included for all backers receiving the game!
Additionally, if we pass our initial goal of $80,000, we have a number of stretch goals lined up which have the potential to make the future of Phantom Trigger even more spectacular! For more information, please see the "Stretch Goals" section below.
Following the Heath Oslo incident, the existence of the US-Japanese anti-terror organization CIRS has become a matter of public knowledge. CIRS has been rebuilt from the ground up, and its most covert functions spun off to a new agency: SORD (Social Ops, Research & Development).
The goal of SORD is to train a new generation of operatives to defend the country against future threats. To that end, the organization has established a series of schools up and down the country. Mihama Academy, more-or-less left to rot after its abrupt closure, has been given new purpose as one such 'specialist training school'.
This new incarnation of Mihama Academy is home to a diverse group of students, who every day work to polish their unusual skills - sometimes on the job. Mihama now entrusts the misfit girls who attend it with guns and live ammunition. Paying their own safety no heed, these students are again and again plunged into dangerous extrajudicial missions - all for the good of the realm.
"We've been provided with a place in the world.
That alone isn't enough - there wouldn't be any meaning in living, if that was all we had...
It's not enough just to be made use of by others. I live by my own strength, and I fight to survive.
That's the only way those of us who actually make it through can find forgiveness..."
No matter how much life grinds them down, what future awaits these girls, who've themselves chosen the path of the gun?

Q: Does Grisaia: Phantom Trigger have H-scenes? Will there be an 18+ patch?
A: Grisaia: Phantom Trigger was created and designed as an all-ages game, and therefore features no sexually explicit content. Accordingly, no restoration patch will be necessary, as the digital and physical versions will contain the exact same content. That being said, the manga adaptation features more adult-oriented content, as do many of the supplemental items we are offering (i.e. the artbook and tapestries).
However, please do note that the series does feature scenes of intense violence and language.
Q: Will Phantom Trigger have dual language support?
A: Yes! Just like the Corona Blossom series, Phantom Trigger will support display of both English and Japanese game text, as well as the display of both languages simultaneously.
Q: How many volumes will Phantom Trigger have?
A: Phantom Trigger is an ongoing series, with each volume comprising of a largely self-contained story. Currently the first four volumes of the game are in development, but the total final number of entries in the series is yet to be decided.
Q: Will one of the stretch goals be a PS Vita port of Phantom Trigger?
A: We're very aware of the size and passion of the Vita fanbase here at Frontwing, and would love for Phantom Trigger to come to the Vita. However, as Phantom Trigger is an ongoing series, we feel that the possibility of a Vita port would best be considered once the series can be delivered as a single complete package (and indeed, it wouldn't be feasible for us to release episodically on Vita for a number of reasons). We'll absolutely revisit this topic when the series comes nearer to completion, so be on the lookout for that!
Q: Do I need to play the origina Grisaia trilogy before I play Phantom Trigger?
A: While Phantom Trigger does make reference to characters, events, and concepts from the original Grisaia trilogy, and knowledge of these will certainly enhance the Phantom Trigger experience, the series is designed to be enjoyed by longtime Grisaia fans and newcomers alike. The Fruit of Grisaia and The Labyrinth of Grisaia are available on both Steam and Denpasoft from Sekai Project, and the Steam version of The Eden of Grisaia is scheduled for a March 2017 release.
Q: Who is the main character of Phantom Trigger?
A: Aoi Haruto is the main protagonist of the Phantom Trigger series. However, some portions of the story may also be told from the perspective of other characters.
Q: Will physical English copies of Phantom Trigger and other goods be available outside of Kickstarter?
A: We currently do not have any plans to offer Phantom Trigger goods outside of this campaign, and the localized items funded by the campaign will be exclusive to it.
Q: Will there be crowdfunding campaigns for future volumes of Phantom Trigger?
A: We are still undecided on this topic, but we have found that platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are the best and most convenient way for us to make physical copies of our games (as well as other goods) available for purchase from fans outside of Japan. We'll have more to announce in the future!
